The Grant Program

The purpose of our Community Investment Grant Program is to help increase the capacity of organizations on Galveston Island to seek systemic solutions to entrenched social problems that have been identified by the United Way as critical needs to address within the city. Programs should maximize coverage across Galveston and will need to demonstrate positive citywide outcomes.

The United Way of Galveston will fund programs addressing one or more of the following community needs:

  • Economic Sufficiency
  • Education
  • Health & Wellness
  • Open Category: need identified by applicant organizations*

*Clear demonstration of need will be required for programs in this category.

Programs that will be considered must address changing community conditions in ways that will reduce the number or severity of need for populations in these categories. Programs should not propose redundant forms of service already being provided to those in need. However, current active programs demonstrating outlined requirements are eligible.

Program responsibilities for the applicant include the following:

  • Obtaining resources
  • Coordinating with providers
  • Coordinating with key community groups and agencies in delivery of services
  • Identifying target populations
  • Monitoring outcomes

Organizations are welcome to submit proposals for any type of community need.
